Reported Sexual Assault in Hamilton High School Bathroom Triggers LAPD Investigation

An alleged sexual assault of a female student in the boy’s bathroom of Hamilton High School in West Los Angeles has led to an ongoing police investigation Tuesday, according to the school district.

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) issued a statement indicating the sexual assault occurred several days ago and possibly involved multiple students. Due to student privacy rights and the ongoing police investigation, LAUSD officials stated they were unable to provide any additional information.

“At Los Angeles Unified, the well-being and safety of our students and staff is of paramount importance. An alleged incident occurred on the campus of Hamilton High School earlier this week potentially involving several students in the boy’s restroom,” the district said via its public statement.

“The school administration immediately and proactively began coordinating with the Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles Unified School Police to investigate the issue. Our school crisis team was also activated and students were given an opportunity to speak to counselors about their concerns.”

Local KTLA reported that that Hamilton High School students said they believed the sexual assault survivor is a female and that a video of the alleged incident is circulating on social media.

The Los Angeles Daily News reported that Hamilton’s principal, Jennifer Baxter, notified parents about the alleged sexual assault via voicemail, and indicated that counseling services have been made available to all students. She also reportedly said police are investigating what she referred to as an “incident… involving several students in the boys’ restroom.”

Local FOX 11 reported that Hamilton High School has hired two additional security aides and is allowing students to go to the restroom in pairs following the alleged sexual assault.

No arrests have currently been reported, though the Los Angeles Police Department did confirm the investigation is ongoing.

Alexander Hamilton High School is located at 2955 S. Robertson Boulevard in the Palms neighborhood of West Los Angeles.

Initially the communication was a bit choppy due to some green talent in the office but that happens..
