A suspect is being sought by law enforcement officials following a sexual assault which occurred this past weekend at the Gray Whale Cove State Beach on the San Mateo County coast. The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the sexual assault took place at around 4 p.m. on February 11.
Investigators indicated that a woman was sexually assaulted on the stairwell leading to the beach.

Additionally, the suspect was carrying a black backpack at the time of the assault, according to law enforcement officials.
Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the sexual assault suspect, and noted that the investigation is ongoing. Earlier this month, an attempted sexual assault occurred at Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades. The incident happened in the early evening hours of February 4, and Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officials released the following sketch of the suspect:
