“Succession” actor Nicholas Braun was involved in a Los Angeles car accident this week that left the other vehicle in flames. The star of the HBO series documented the incident on social media after a vehicle hit his parked SUV and caught fire.
“This guy hit my parked car today, I watched it happen. It was crazy,” the “Succession” star wrote on Instagram along with photos and video of the crash. In one of the videos, the other driver can be seen attempting to put the flames out with a fire extinguisher.
“It caught fire pretty quickly. This guy came outta nowhere with the extinguisher,” Braun, who plays Cousin Greg on the HBO series, added.
Wonderwall.com reported that Braun was not in the car when the other vehicle struck the back of his Cadillac Escalade on a Los Angeles street.
“My car is fine. Just gotta pop out these dents and it’s good to go,” he captioned a photo displaying the physical damage to his Cadillac SUV.
As we noted in a recent post, data released by the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed substantial increases in local car accident injuries and fatalities last year. Through December 25 of 2021, the LAPD recorded 289 traffic deaths. That’s a 21% increase through the same period in 2020 and a 19% increase from 2019.
Moreover, serious injuries from Los Angeles car accidents increased by 30% in 2021, with 1,465 people requiring transport from the scene after a crash.
Additionally, LAPD data from the first six months of 2021 confirmed a troubling rise in virtually every type of traffic crash. Apart from the number of pedestrians killed by drivers holding “about even,” the following types of Los Angeles motor vehicle collisions saw increases through the end of June 2021 (compared to the same period in 2020):
A wave of increased calls related to illegal street racing and ‘sideshow‘ incidents were placed to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in 2021. CHP officials responded to over 25,00 illegal street racing calls last year, a 16% increase from 2020.
Moreover, LAPD data has confirmed that illegal street racing incidents increased 27% throughout the city in 2021.
The surge in street racing incidents may have been one of the factors to compel California legislators to introduce a new law known as Assembly Bill 3 (AB 3).
Under AB 3, California courts may suspend the driver’s license of anyone caught engaging in illegal street racing or ‘takeover’ activity.
