Oxnard Personal Trainer Keith Dudley Arrested for Sexually Assaulting Teenage Student

Apr 1, 2024

A local personal trainer who has worked at various area schools was arrested by Oxnard police in connection with the sexual assault of a Moorpark High School student.

Keith Dudley, 41, of Oxnard was identified as the suspect and taken into custody by the city Police Department’s Family Protection Unit on the evening of March 27. The arrest took place at the 400 block of Forest Park Boulevard in Oxnard, California. Dudley is accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old Moorpark High School student.

Oxnard Police Department officials have not released any additional details about the alleged student sexual assault, but did note that the incident is currently not being treated as an on-campus crime.

“There is no indication that any of these acts occurred on school grounds or at any school-sanctioned events,” the Oxnard Police Department said.

Law enforcement officials did confirm that personal trainer Keith Dudley has worked for years with students from various high schools across Ventura County.

Dudley was booked on charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor at the Ventura County Main jail. The Oxnard personal trainer sexual assault suspect was later released from custody on $20,000 bail.

Oxnard Police officials have also indicated that they expect additional victims to be identified. Police are urging anyone with information related to a possible sex crime committed by Oxnard resident Keith Dudley to contact the department via one of the following avenues:

Oxnard police detectives are continuing to investigate the case against personal trainer Keith Dudley.

Previous California High School Personal Trainer Sexual Assault Arrest

In 2022, a Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) personal trainer who worked at Van Nuys High was arrested in connection with multiple sexual assaults of students. Richard Turner of Lake Balboa was arrested after at least 10 survivors came forward with allegations of sexual abuse.

Trainer was charged with more than 15 felony sex crime counts, including:

  • Forcible rape
  • Forcible penetration with a foreign object
  • Sexual penetration of an unconscious person

Teenage boys and girls – former students at Los Angeles-area schools – alleged inappropriate touching and various sexual abuse during massages with Trainer. The reports of sexual assault against the Van Nuys athletic trainer dated back to 2017.

Unfortunately, sexual abuse in schools – whether by personal trainers, teachers, counselors, or coaches – is a common occurrence. But victims have rights under California law and can pursue justice and financial compensation for the harm endured by filing a civil lawsuit with Dordulian Law Group.

Getting Justice for California School Sexual Abuse

Parents send their children to school with the implied understanding that it’s a safe place to learn and grow. Unfortunately, that’s now always the case. In fact, a recent Fox News report found that between January and September of 2022, at least 269 educators had been arrested for sexual misconduct. This troubling statistic means that approximately one educator is being arrested for sexual misconduct every day.

According to FOX, the breakdown of those aforementioned 269 arrests is as follows:

  • Four principals
  • Two assistant principals
  • There are 226 teachers in the classroom.
  • Teacher’s Aides 20
  • 17 substitute teachers

At least 199 educator arrests (74%) involve crimes against students.
