A plastic surgeon with offices located in Brea and Beverly Hills has been charged with sexually assaulting two female patients during treatment exams.
Frederic Corbin, 77, of Villa Park, California, was charged with two felonies – sexual battery by fraud and sexual exploitation by a physician. Additionally, Corbin faces two misdemeanor counts each of sexual battery and battery.
“No one seeking medical treatment should have to worry about being sexually assaulted while under a doctor’s care,” Orange County District Attorney, Todd Spitzer, said in a public statement. “Patients entrust their very lives to the doctors who treat them… These women were in very vulnerable situations and their doctor capitalized on those vulnerabilities for his own sexual gratification.”
Corbin is accused of sexually assaulting a female patient on September 17, 2020. According to the complaint, the victim was sexually assaulted by Corbin while he prepped her for a surgical procedure. A second female patient came forward alleging that Corbin sexually assaulted her on May 14 of this year during a post-surgery exam.
The two women reported the incidents to the Brea Police Department.
Corbin turned himself in to authorities on Tuesday. He faces a maximum sentence of five years in a state prison if convicted. Tara Meath, of the Orange County Deputy District Attorney’s Sexual Assault Unit, is prosecuting the case.
Corbin’s website indicates that he has over 25 years of experience in both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
