Arcadia Police Arrest Swim Coach for Sex Crimes with Minors

Arcadia Police Department officials arrested a local swim coach on suspicion of having sex with a minor and additional sex crimes.

Marco Antonio Flores, 25, had reportedly worked as a swim coach for Max Aquatics since 2007. The private swim club, with facilities in Arcadia, El Monte, and Monrovia, reported the alleged inappropriate sexual relationship to police on September 7.

Flores was subsequently fired after the sexual incident was discovered, which police described via public statement as an “inappropriate relationship between an adult Max Aquatics swim coach and a juvenile athlete.”

Detectives conducted an investigation and reportedly obtained arrest and search warrants for Flores, an Arcadia resident. On September 16, detectives served both warrants at Flores’ home and took him into custody.

The Arcadia Police Department confirmed Flores was arrested on the following charges:

Violations of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor
Lewd and lascivious acts involving children
Other sex crimes

Flores is currently being held in the Arcadia Police Department’s jail on $25,000 bail.

Authorities have indicated that they believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with information related to Flores or a possible sex crime is urged to contact Arcadia Police at 626-574 -5160.
