Anaheim Crash Involving Amazon Delivery Van Leaves One Dead, Another Hospitalized

A woman was killed and another person hospitalized Wednesday after colliding with an Amazon delivery van in Anaheim.

Police confirmed that the fatal crash occurred at approximately 8 p.m. in the intersection of South Dale Avenue and Orange Avenue. Anaheim Police Department Sergeant Shane Carringer told the Los Angeles Times that the crash involved an Amazon delivery van and a Toyota Prius.

“The two women inside the Toyota were taken to a hospital, where the passenger, identified only as in her 60s, died,” the Los Angeles Times confirmed through Carringer.

The driver was a woman in her 20s and suffered moderate injuries, according to Anaheim Police.

The Amazon delivery van driver was reportedly a man in his 30s, though no media outlet has confirmed his identity. The Los Angeles Times indicated that he experienced “minor complaints of pain, but elected not to go the hospital.” KTLA reported that the Amazon driver remained at the scene following the fatal collision.

An investigation into the cause of the deadly Amazon delivery van crash is ongoing. Traffic investigators with the Anaheim Police Department are looking into whether the Prius may have run a red light, Sergeant Carringer noted to the Los Angeles Times.

“Excessive speed and drugs or alcohol don’t appear to be factors in the crash, but investigators will make the final determination,” the Los Angeles Times’ report confirmed.

In February, a fatal Amazon truck crash occurred in Los Angeles in the vicinity of Woodlawn Avenue and 41st Place, near Gilbert Lindsay Recreation Center. A suspect reportedly stole the unattended Amazon delivery vehicle and ended up losing control, crashing into three people on the sidewalk and tragically killing 67-year-old street vendor Jose Rangel.

“Right now, we’re coming together as a family and just trying to stay strong during this time that was so unexpected. My dad was a hard worker,” Rangel’s son, who flew in from out of state, told local FOX 11 shortly after the crash occurred. “We just hope justice prevails.”

The suspect was eventually identified as 37-year-old Cristian Ramos Sanchez of Los Angeles.

Sometimes workers comp cases can drag on. Samuel was there every step of the way with superior knowledge and intellect. What struck me was the kindness I found in him.
